Mark it down! On May 11, 2013, from Noon til 5:00 pm, make plans to spend some time at the Washington Glass School.

Gateway Arts District  presents its 9th Annual Open Studio Tours  - one of the best events in the greater Washington, D.C., metro area!

This event showcases the many professional artists representing nearly every visual arts medium. You'll have access to art galleries, studios, cultural centers and performing spaces throughout the Prince George's County Gateway Arts District (a vibrant cultural scene spanning Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood and Hyattsville).

Gateway Arts District starts along the Eastern Ave border to DC.

The event is free and open to the public. Close to 140 individual artists will participate to make an exceptional event.Come to the Washington Glass School in the part of Gateway known as "Artists on the Tracks" and see the works of the Glass School artists and next door Flux and Red Dirt Studios.

This year’s tour features a guided shuttle bus tour of select studios, live performances at Joe’s Movement Emporium, and an exhibition opening at the 39th Street Gallery.

 The 8th Annual Gateway Open Studio Tour takes place this coming Saturday, May 12, 2012, from Noon til 5:00 PM. 17 Venues - 70 Studios will be open - come on in and have a look at one of the DC areas most exciting arts scenes!  

Washington Glass School will be participating - check out the artworks by Tim Tate, Erwin Timmers, Michael Janis, Robert Kincheloe, Nancy Donnelly, Mick Coughlan and more!

Flux Studios will be open - see what Novie Trump, Laurel Lukaszewski, Jessica Beels and others have been working on!

Stop by next door at Red Dirt Studios - the ceramics by Margaret Boozer, JJ McCracken, Siobhan Rigg and more!

Check out Erwin Timmers' newest glass sculptures made from recycled glass!

The Gateway Arts District is just over the DC/MD border of Eastern Avenue, along Route One.

Check out what's on sale and what's shaking at the Washington Glass School, then pop in at the adjacent Flux Studios ; Red Dirt Studio and the other studios "On-the-Tracks". Also - down the street, at the Gateway Arts Center - there is a great show - Big Ideas - that features work by Ellen Weiss, Susan Finsen and Sondra Arkin. They are having artists talks at 2 & 4 pm.

The Gateway Arts District will host their 7^th Annual Open Studio Tour on Saturday, May 14 from 12 PM to 5 PM. Maps will direct visitors on a self-guided tour of the new

and over 70 art studios within a half-mile radius. Food carts at several locations; free parking.

Following the Tour is the After Party! The Gateway Arts Center will concurrently feature two exhibitions: “Big Ideas: Sondra N. Arkin, Ellyn Weiss, Susan Finsen” (artist talks at 2 PM and 4 PM), and “Body,” curated by Ledelle Moe (party/opening reception following the Open Studio Tour, from 5:30 PM to 8 PM)

Washington Glass School 9th Anniversary Open House

This May marks our 9th year providing some of the highest level glass/metal/sculpture classes in the region. We will join the Gateway Arts District's Open Studio Tours as part of the annual Mount Rainier Day festivities. This year is the Mount Rainier, MD centennial - so this will be a big event for the area!

The Glass School anniversary and open studio is one of our favorite events, from the Mt Rainier Day parade in the morning to the huge selection of art and craft from our instructors, associates and studio artists. Please join us - and visit the surrounding incredible ceramic studios and other art studios that are also open as part of the celebration!

Washington Glass School Open House and Holiday Sale!

There will be art, glass, music, food, jewelry, craft, class discounts & more!
Artwork by glass artists (including Michael Janis, Tim Tate, Erwin Timmers, Sean Hennessey and all the Washington Glass Studio artists) will be on exhibit and for sale.

The adjoining artist studios will all be joining us to make for a huge event: Cool ceramics works from the artists of Flux Studios and Red Dirt Studios, including works by Novie Trump, Margaret Boozer, and Laurel Lukaszewski; amazing painting and encaustic works by Sinel/Stewart/Weiss Studios, Janis Goodman, Blue Fire Studio and the other artists in the Studios along the Railroad Tracks.

The Gateway Arts District has coordinated the surrounding arts & craft venues and galleries to coincide with events going from Mount Rainier through Brentwood and Hyattsville.
