Parish Gallery Georgetown: "Through the Years" Group of Gallery Artists 

Over the past 21 years, The Parish Gallery have shown so many exciting and talented artist. This exhibition the gallery will be showing both mid-career and masters.
Washington Glass Studio artist John Henderson is one of the artists featured in show.

John began his artistic studies at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, at Harvard University, where he studied visual design and composition under the artist Albert Alcalay. His artistic journey has taken him through printmaking, water colors, stained glass, metal sculpture, and finally kilnformed glass.

Sneak Peek at Maurine Littleton Gallery Exhibit

This Friday, September 14, the art galleries in Georgetown's Book Hill (on upper Wisconsin Avenue in the antiques, library and museum district of Georgetown) kicks off the Fall Art Season with a Gallery Crawl from 6-8 PM. Maurine Littleton Gallery exhibits and represents leading contemporary artists in glass, metal, wood and ceramics - including Harvey Littleton, Dante Marioni, Dale Chihuly, Ginny Ruffner and others. For the start of the Fall Art Season, the gallery is showcasing Michael Janis, Allegra Marquart and Drew Storm Graham. 

I stopped by for a quick sneak peak when the artwork was just finished being installed on the two levels and they look great!

Allegra Marquart's new sandcarved glass panels showcase her quirky stories. Her work plays with the translucency of the glass medium so beautifully.

Drew Storm Graham's colorful, wild, 3-D panels grab your attention!

Drew's work references tattoo and graffiti art - very fresh and powerful!

Michael Janis' panels look better than the photos - great depth to the pieces! Love the color!

This gallery crawl on Friday is a must!

Chris Shea Trunk show

Chris Shea stopped by the Glass School the other day, and we took a sneak peek at a huge forged bronze architrave that Chris made for a residence. Chris designs and creates hand-forged furniture, sculpture and architectural metalwork at his studio in Brandywine, MD. A professional artist and blacksmith for 10 years, his work is shown at Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia and has been exhibited throughout the country.

Chris & Tim Tate collaborated on a fantastic piece - now on exhibit at Maurine Littleton Gallery in Washington, DC.

Born and raised in Marblehead, MA, Chris studied blacksmithing and silversmithing at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Tennessee, and has taught at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD, Thomas Jefferson Arts Center in Arlington, VA, and Snow Farm Craft School in Williamsburg, MA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.
